Abstract

The broadly tunable and coherent solid state terahertz (THz) emitters based on the intrinsic Josephson junctions (IJJs) in mesas of the high-temperature superconductor Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ are discussed. Furthermore, the superconducting properties, effect of mesa dimensions and area, radiation pattern and emission frequency f spectra are presented for a variety of THz antenna geometries.
