Abstract

The fracture in the electrode particle is widely believed to be related to the capacity fade of the lithium-ion batteries. In this contribution, the crack propagation and phase segregation in the electrode particle is simulated by a phase-field model. Moreover, the reaction on the surface is modeled by a modified Butler-Volmer equation, which can also automatically track the cracking surface with the help of the fracture order parameter.
