© 1983-2012 IEEE. This work demonstrates that wavefront encoding technique can be used reduce the peak transient crosstalk by >10 dB in holographic optical switches based on the liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) technology, when compared with switches based on the conventional Fourier transform optical setup. At the same time, this technique also reduces the switching time, without any modifications needed to either the LCOS device or its driving circuits.
